Microsoft has announced an all new AI-powered Bing search engine and Edge browser, available in preview now at Bing.com, to deliver better search, more complete answers, a new chat experience and the ability to generate content. This new experience is designed to be an AI copilot for the web and is powered by the next-generation OpenAI model, the Microsoft Prometheus model, and AI applied to the core search algorithm.
The new Bing search engine provides more relevant results for simple searches like sports scores, stock prices and weather, while the new chat experience allows users to refine their search until they get the complete answer they are looking for by asking for more details, clarity and ideas. It also creates content for users, such as writing emails, creating a 5-day itinerary for a dream vacation, preparing for a job interview or creating a quiz for trivia night. The new Edge browser has also been updated with new AI capabilities and the ability to chat and compose.
Microsoft and OpenAI have also implemented safeguards to defend against harmful content and will continue to apply the full strength of their responsible AI ecosystem to develop new approaches to mitigate risk. The new Bing experience is currently available in a limited preview on desktop, but will scale to millions in the coming weeks. A mobile experience will also be in preview soon.
